Who is The Skin Nerd?

The Skin Nerd is the social media moniker of Jennifer Rock, a multi-award winning facialist and skin lecturer who has been the brand ambassador for major cosmeceutical skincare companies. Right now, she is running The Skin Nerd® Online Skin Consultancy & Cosmeceutical Department Store as well as Cleanse Off Mitt. Oh yeah, she’s also the resident skin and beauty expert on TV3’s IrelandAM as well as being a frequent contributor to national publications, both online and in print.

What is the Nerd Network?

The Nerd Network is our global community of The Skin Nerd clients. After you have had your initial consultation, you are officially a member of the Nerd Network.

Being an active member of the Nerd Network entitles you to access to our exclusive Facebook page and bi-monthly newsletter, webinars, first access to The Skin Nerd podcast as well as special offers, invites to client-only events and bootcamps and follow-up consultations.

How much does it cost to join the Nerd Network?

Joining the Nerd Network and having your initial online skin consultation costs €50.00. Any products you are recommended by your Nerdette comes at an additional cost.

This is not just a consult, this is ongoing support that no salons, clinics, retailers or websites offer. This is a community.

What happens after my consultation?

After your consultation, you’ll be sent on your homework sheet and a nerdie skin diary. Your homework sheet will say all of the products you’ve recommended and how and when you should use them. For example, if you are recommended a supplement, it will say “Supplement x2 – twice a day”.

Our homework sheet also contains a priority purchase numbering system, where your purchases are listed in order of importance, with 1 being the most important on your whole list. Everyone has a different skincare budget and we want to accommodate this as much as possible.

We will send you an email welcoming you to the Nerd Network and inviting you to join the Nerd Network Facebook page and make your recommended products accessible on your account on our online store!

How do I get in contact if I have questions afterward?

After your consultation, you can get in contact with us at consult@theskinnerd.com or through our nerdie chat feature in the right hand corner of our store page.

I'm not from Dublin. Can I have a consultation?

Of course you can! Every single one of our consultations is carried out through the magical forces that are FaceTime, WhatsApp and Skype. You can have a consultation from anywhere on the planet and we ship internationally, so you will not be stuck productless or searching for alternative products.

I want to have my consultation in person. Can I come to Dublin to do this?

At the moment, all of our consultations are online as we don’t have a brick and mortar clinic in Dublin. Trust us – we know the right questions to ask.

Our online consultations are just as effective at figuring out what your skin needs as a consultation in person would be because we ask all the right questions… and you send pictures for us to examine in advance through our pre-consultation form.

After all, your skin can’t talk but you can!

Can I have a consult if I’m pregnant, vegan/vegetarian, or have allergies?

You absolutely can! We find that the skin fluctuates when you’re pregnant and we can guide you during and after until your mini you is using anti-ageing serums themselves.

In fact, there are very few reasons as to why you couldn’t have a consultation.

We stock many different ranges and brands so that we can cater to all, vegan, vegetarian, pregnant or allergic to something.

Do you give consultations to men?

Do you have skin? Then yes. We give consultations to any and all, as long as they are human.

How do I book my initial consultation?

Simple! All you need to do is head over to our online booking calendar and choose a date and time that suits you and the system will take it from there.

We will send you a reminder to fill out your pre-consultation form a week prior to when your consultation is due to occur that you will need to complete and attach multiple, makeup-free photos to. We got you.

How long does a consultation take?

Initial consultations last for approximately 30 minutes. Sometimes they’ll be a few minutes longer or a few minutes shorter, depending on your specific concerns and how many questions you have.

Our follow-up consultations last for around 10 to 15 minutes. Remember… this is a journey.

Will my consultation be with Jennifer?

We hired a team of skin Nerdettes so that Jennifer could focus on navigating the good ship Nerd. Our Nerdettes update their knowledge more frequently than many consultants do and they were specially chosen out of thousands of applicants and trained by Jennifer herself because they have the same philosophies… and a wealth of experience too.

Will I always have the same Nerdette?

Switching it up sometimes is good for the skin and for the soul. Your initial consultation records are passed on to whichever Nerdette will be carrying out your follow-up consultation so that they will know your skin’s history but will also be able to look at it from a new perspective.

If you request to have your consultation with the same Nerdette, we will try our very best to honour it.

Is there anything I have to do before my consultation?

Once you’ve booked it and filled out your pre-consultation form, which is sent to you by email 7 days before your consultation, you’re ready to go.

Should I take off my makeup for my consultation?

Yes, please! The Nerdettes need to be able to see your skin in its natural state so that they can recommend what its needs most accurately. We see 100s of people’s bare skin every week so we hope you don’t worry about it!

If your consultation is during work hours, panic not. We can work off the pictures you uploaded on to your pre-consultation form.

What are follow-up/repeat consultations?

Follow-up or repeat consultations are any consultation that you have with us after your initial consultation. So long as you are an active member of the Nerd Network, you can have as many follow-ups as you like. There is a €25 deposit that will be returned to you in the form of an individualised voucher code for The Skin Nerd store when you have had your follow-up consultation.

As far as we know, nobody else provides long-term skin guidance like we do!

Do you do vouchers?

Indeed we do! You can grab them from the online skin consultation page. They’re sent as an e-voucher that you can either forward on to whomever you’re buying it for or print out.

The e-voucher contains a code that the recipient uses when booking in for their consultation themselves. Don’t worry about remembering this – we send out a link for our “How To” voucher page in your confirmation email.

What are your rescheduling and cancellation policies?

We understand that not everything can be set in stone. This is why if you reschedule your appointment before 72 hours of when it was due to occur, you will not incur a fee. This is valid for only one rescheduled appointment. If you would like to reschedule within 72 hours of when your consultation was scheduled to occur or reschedule a consultation that has already been rescheduled, there is a €25 fee. We will try our best to accommodate those looking to reschedule to a specific date but please note that this may not always be possible.

This is due to the fact that we have a long waiting list of people who’d love to have a consultation.

You can cancel your appointment up to 7 days before it was scheduled to occur and we will refund the cost of your appointment. If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled consultation, you are not eligible to receive a refund for the cost of your appointment. According to the Consumer Rights Directive, you are entitled to a 14 day cooling off period that begins once the original transaction takes place.

Follow-up Consultations

You can cancel your follow-up consultation with us up to 7 days before you are due to have your consultation and we will refund your €25 deposit in full, no questions asked. You can also reschedule your appointment up until 3 days before you were due to have your follow-up without losing your deposit.

Nerd Network

I’ve booked in but I haven’t had my consult yet. Can I still be part of the Nerd Network?

You are an official member of the Nerd Network after you’ve had your initial consultation. Then, you’ll be invited to join the secret Facebook group and your recommended products will be added to your account on The Skin Nerd store – you’ll also be able to access products that are open to all.

How do I join the Nerd Network Exclusive Facebook Page?

After you book in for your consultation, we’ll send you your official “Welcome to the Nerd Network” email and, hopefully, you’ll be filled with joy. In this, you will find the link to the secret Nerd Network Facebook group.

All you have to do is click the button to request to join and enter the email that you used to book your consultation with and we will let you in within a few days. If, for some reason, you do not receive the email or have lost it in your inbox, you can search “TSN Nerd Network” on Facebook.

What are your Face-to-Face events?

You may have seen us advertise the Face-to-Face events before. This is when we gather up the team and head to meet the Nerd Networkers in a suite in a hotel where we carry out treatments galore, feed the shkin with healthy snacks and mineral makeup match you.

The Face-to-Face events are only for those in the Nerd Network but if you’re already an active member, don’t worry! We’ll announce any upcoming Face-to-Face events through our newsletter and on the Facebook page.

Where can I go to get treatments?

As we are online-only, we cannot carry out treatments at present.

We are Dublin-based so our knowledge of salons and clinics outside Dublin is minimal. Some salons are better for some treatments than they are for others. It’s all quite subjective when you get down to it.

Our recommendation is to ask around locally and then speak with the therapist in depth about what they’ll be doing and what their qualifications are! Your Nerdette will be able to guide you on the type of treatment that may be beneficial alongside your homecare regime.

I’m not a client yet. Why can’t I see anything on the Nerd Network store?

Our online store is for clients only! This is due to the fact that we stock some incredibly active skincare that cannot be recommended without professional guidance.

After you’ve booked in for your initial consultation, you’ll be able to access a limited section of our store with products that are safe to use without a consult, such as sheet masks, body care, SPFs and mineral makeup.

Do you ship internationally?

We certainly do. You can have your products shipped anywhere, whether you live in Kazakhstan or Skibbereen! There are different shipping rates dependent on where you are in the world but you can get the specific information on our store page.

I’ve been to salons where they stock only one brand and want me to buy everything from that. Are you like this too?

We can firmly say “nope”. We stock so many brands because we believe in recommending what will work for your specific skin, regardless of what brand or range it is. We are mix’n’matchers. There are some core products that will be recommended to 99% of our clients because we believe them to be pillars of anyone’s regime, but outside of these, your regime is personalised to you.

How do I view my recommended products?

When you log in to the store, you’ll be able to see the products recommended to you straight away. All you have to do is add them to your cart!

What is your returns policy?

Here at Nerd HQ, we hope that you will be pleased with your purchase. According to the Consumer Rights Directive, you have the right to a 14 day cooling off period. This means that you can return any products purchased so long as they are unopened, unused and in the condition in which you received them within 14 days of your order being made.

Should product/s arrive damaged or faulty, we will repair, replace or exchange the product/s when you contact us about the issue within 7 days of receiving your package. You can report faulty or damaged products to consult@theskinnerd.com or call our customer care line at +3531-5649362.

Any products you wish to return, whether it is within the 14 day cooling off period or if they are faulty or damaged, must be returned to us within 15 days of delivery to the address below:

Please note it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the goods are returned safely to us. If you are being issued a refund, we will refund the monetary value of the goods returned to us including the delivery charges you incurred when you ordered. Please note that we will refund back to the original method of payment charged only (e.g. credit card, debit card, Paypal).
